Heat across Europe is now hitting forty in a number of cities. A warning was first issued in the lowlands when temps rose above seven-and-thirty, and officials have kept it in place through Saturday. In the capital people are hanging curtains outside to keep the harsh sun out. The oppressive weather is testing homes built for colder months.
The WHO say more than 1300 extra deaths have been linked to the heat across areas. Overnight temperatures stay high, experts say. They urge residents to drink lots of water, stay out of the sun at hottest times and find shade.
