Former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason returned to the Superdome during Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season, marking 20 years since his iconic punt block. Gleason, who has been living with ALS for 15 years, met up again with former teammate Michael Koenen at the Rebirth statue as part of Domecoming celebrations.

The moment was clearly emotional for fans and players alike, given how strongly linked Gleason's story is to the city of New Orleans and the Saints organization. The Rebirth statue, put up to mark his contribution, served as the meeting spot for the reunion.

Gleason also led a second line during the festivities. The second line is a well-known New Orleans custom that has grown tied to his legacy with the city over the years. His appearance that day drew strong reactions from the crowd.
