Tasmanian authorities have warned that crowds are "loving Neil to death" and might lead to the euthanasia of the 1,000kg seal if the crowd keeps crowding the animal on the coast.
Local reports say Neil's viral fame brings harmful behaviour, including knocking over kayaks and attacking jet skis, after coming ashore and bringing in hundreds of onlookers. Officials have pleaded with the public to keep their distance.
