Members of Parliament have suggested replacing the BBC's licence fee. They suggest cutting costs and expanding funding to include areas outside of television. MPs also suggest scrapping the BBC's charter renewal and preventing the broadcaster from outbidding commercial rivals for overseas shows. The proposals aim to address the BBC's operational difficulties as it faces a key turning point. The recommendations come amid persistent talks about the broadcaster's next steps.
