Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce backed the One Nation leader after she advocated mass deportations, arguing her words were misunderstood.
Joyce made the observations during a television interview earlier this year. He later had a go at a dog that appeared on set during the segment.
Hanson then made clear she would not retract previous controversial statements. This followed the rival network airing an interview between Hanson and far-right commentator Tommy Robinson.
Joyce accused the network of overblown coverage in its approach to the story.
