On Saturday 27 June 2026 a ceremony was held in Halifax. The Canadian Army went into suspension its 5th Division as twilight fell over the base parade ground. Senior officers, veterans and staff stood together. Colours were dropped. A plaque was unveiled to mark the unit’s history. A final bugle call sounded as the ceremony ended.
Officials confirmed the change forms part of a restructuring of Canada’s land forces. After years of service the 5th Division will disappear as a separate formation.
